The next meeting is this Tuesday 24th September to Bentley Community Woodland and is the last of Hilary’s three pits walks. Meet at the entrance to the woodland at the end of The Avenue grid ref SE570076, post code DN5 0QB at 1.30 for a 2 mile walk.

Here is a note that Hilary sent after she went there on the 12th September:

The official car park is closed and padlocked .
There is still ample  roadside parking on The Avenue, Bentley  DN5 0PX that should not annoy the residents.
The woodland paths are good surfaces  and dry .
The short climb to the vantage point is not too strenuous and  a good view back into Doncaster.
A pair of swans on the lake and plenty evidence of flora not gone to seed .
Only a few Dragonflies spotted and plenty of cabbage white butterflies in flight.
Our steady walk round too just under a hour
