DONCASTER SCIENTIFIC SOCIETY.
The Doncaster Scientific Society held their annual conversazione in the Mansion House last night, when there was lecture Mr. Godfrey Bingley of Halifax on “The Geological Aspects of the Scenery of England.” The exhibition included numerous objects of scientific interest, the arrangements, which were under the direction of Dr. Corbett, being most satisfactory. In Archaeology there were pre-historic implements, and in botany many fresh-gathered wild flowers and local herbaria, whilst the microscope revealed many wonders and objects of interest. There was also a very interesting collection of insects, and examples of nature study, wood carving, etc., were sent by the children of the Yorkshire Institution for the Deaf and Dumb.

The 26th winter session of the Doncaster Scientific Society commenced in the Guildhall, Doncaster, last night, when Mr. G. H. Greenslade, headmaster of the Yorkshire Institute for Deaf, delivered his presidential address on “Scientific Societies; their purpose and scope”.
