Gilchrist Lectures Accounts for the year 1883
The Committee of the Doncaster Microscopical and General Society, in publishing the following Statement of Accounts relating to the course of Lecture recently delivered in this town, have pleasure in stating that the lectures have been in most respects eminently successful, though they have entailed a loss to the Society of nearly £4. The local expenses, amounting to nearly £58, are shown below. The expenses of the Lecturers are paid by the Gilchrist Trustees, and the great value of their grant will be apparent from a statement made by Dr. Duncan (who has lectured for the Trust for nearly ten years), to the effect that the presentation of this course to Doncaster was equivalent to a gift of about £120, making the total cast approaching £180.
